With the winter weather settling in to South Dakota, Rapid City Police Department is making sure their canine unit can continue to work even in heavy snowfall.
That means protecting the paws of their police dogs from the cold and the salt with winter boots. But that doesn’t mean their dogs are big fans of the footwear. Take Jary the Belgian Malinois for example.
The K9 got to try out his foot protection for the first time and is clearly puzzled by the booties.
When he puts a foot down he pulls it up high like he is touching something freezing cold!
Rapid City Police Department shared the funny video of Jary’s tentative steps on social media, where it’s quickly gone viral. They wrote:
“It’s cold out there, which means making sure all our officers are equipped for the chilly weather; even the furry ones! Looks like K9 Jary’s new snow boots are going to take some getting-used-to…”
In the video one of the K-9 officers is smiling in a chair as Jary gingerly walks by.
But another officer encourages Jary and distracts him with his tug toy, making the first-time experience more fun.
