Puppy Shot 18 Times With BB Gun Makes Amazing Recovery

A 6-week-old puppy is lucky to be alive after he was found bleeding heavily outside of an apartment complex in Rock Hill, South Carolina, by a maintenance worker. The tiny black Labrador mix puppy had been shot 18 times with a BB gun!

The puppy was named Brody taken to Ebenezer Animal Hospital for treatment. Vets say that Brody was extremely lucky that none of the pellets hit any vital organs or broke any bones.

Even though doctors chose to not remove the pellets because he is too young to put under anesthesia safely, the little pup is making an amazing recovery!

For now he needs lots of rest.

“Just in case you were wondering – Brody is doing very well! The most pressing issue in his schedule today is adequate nap time!” the Ebenezer Animal Hospital wrote in a Facebook update.

Investigators determined the pup was abandoned an no-one stepped forward to claim him. Rock Hill Police immediately investigated the incident and announced on February 23, 2016 that they have arrested a 14 year old and a 17 year old in relation to the case.

The two youths will be facing animal cruelty charges. Cruelty to animals is a felony under South Carolina law and carries a maximum of five years in prison.

As for Brody’s future, he will have a home lined up shortly. The Project Safe Pet, who is handling his adoption, said that they received hundreds of adoption applications in less than 24 hours.

The group is now encouraging people to help other rescue animals looking for a home. I’m so glad Brody is doing all right. Share this pup’s story with your family and friends!
