Kane, a newborn American bully puppy, was born with a cleft palate, a bad eye, and was rescued when he was just a few days old.
NorCal Bully Breed Rescue knew the little pup would need ’round the clock care if he had a chance of surviving so they asked Leslie, one of their foster carers, if she would take him in. She agreed and for the first while Kane had to live in an incubator and be hand-fed.
He was strong initially, but after 6 weeks they noticed he had a bad eye and he went on food strike. He just wasn’t developing physically as he should be.
Then things changed for the better – he wanted to eat on his own terms! The feisty fellow kept up with Leslie’s other foster dogs and soon was ready to go to his forever home. During his fostering, Melissa reached out to the rescue to adopt him. She says Kane fits right in with her family and is just “the best friend.”
