Curve, a 31-year-old elephant, gave birth to a set of twin elephants at the Pongola Game Reserve in South Africa. Twin births in elephants are extremely rare (less than 1% prevalence) and it is even rarer still that twins both survive.
That is because the mother elephant has difficulty meeting the feeding demands of two babies at once.
For now, both youngsters are doing well and the reserve is keeping a close eye on them.
They took these adorable pictures and a video of the newborn elephants following their mother, while the other elephants and other young calves in their herd relaxed in the mud and water around them.
