An 86-year-old man was saved by his Pit Bull after a neighbor showed up at his back door and attacked him. Ned Tarmey was home alone with the family dog, Kane, on Sunday morning in Manchester, New Hampshire when the bizarre incident occurred. He went to let Kane outside when he was surprised by his 55-year-old neighbor, Donald Pierce, standing naked in his doorway.
According to Ned’s family, Pierce threatened to kill him and threw bricks and lawn furniture at him until Kane sprang into action.
Kane jumped on Pierce and pinned him down and continued to hold him down until the police arrived. The police had to use a stun gun on both Pierce and Kane because the dog refused to let go (Kane is fine).
Jeff Tarmey, who says his uncle Ned lives with the family, got emotional recounting the incident to reporters. The family adopted Kane from a shelter last year, and Jeff credits Kane with saving his uncle’s life. Pierce is now facing multiple charges.
Happily, Uncle Ned will be released from the ICU soon. And in more happy news, Kane came by for a visit at the hospital to check on Uncle Ned.
