A river otter gave Robert Higgs and his dogs a huge surprise recently when he joined them on a boat dock and wanted to play. Robert was getting ready to go on an excursion on his boat with his dogs, Sugar and Spice, when the friendly otter appeared.

The animal had been hanging around the dock and appearing every few days, but this time, he wanted to make friends!
Much to the amazement of Robert and the others on the dock, the river otter chased after the dogs, wanting them to play tag with him.

But Sugar and Spice weren’t sure what to make of the slick new friend, especially when he dropped into the water.

The otter must have also been confused when the dogs didn’t follow him back into the water because he would follow them, drop into the water and jump back up.

Sugar and Spice would peer over the dock’s edge at the otter, curious as to where he went!

When Robert called for Sugar and Spice, the otter followed after them.

And when Robert told the dogs to “load up” (jump on the boat), the otter wanted to follow after.

Spice and the otter appeared particularly enamored with one another.

They walked down the dock and explored together and looked over the edge together, all the while sniffing and playfully interacting. The people watching just couldn’t believe it. What an amazing experience!

You can see just how curious all the animals are of one another! But Robert made sure their visit stayed friendly and safe!
