Scottish dancing on skates! Can you imagine anything more difficult?
It seems skaters Sinead Kerr and John Kerr didn’t get the memo and took to the ice in a dance routine that is simply stunning to watch.
The brother and sister duo from Scotland have been participating in dance skate competitions for years and have a knack for performances that match their skating perfectly to music. In this one, they select an up tempo version of Auld Lang Syne, which is an old Scottish tune.
The siblings’ energetic and challenging routine completely enthralled the audience at the 2008 World Figure Skating Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Wearing kilts, the freestyle dancing duo showed off many original moves, inspired by Scottish dance.
At one point, Sinead and John interlock skates and at another, she’s literally upside down, holding on with only one hand!
The sheer fun and originality of their routine is so entertaining that it comes as no surprise that the crowd was on their feet by the end and announcers declared it “magnificent”.
Watch their exciting routine in the video below and share it with your friends.
