Emma was on vacation with a friend when they found a wounded stray dog. It was late at night, and there wasn’t any veterinarian clinic open, so they thought they would return in the morning to help the dog. But the dog had other ideas. As soon as they began to walk away, she followed them. So they decided to take her to their room overnight and get her to a vet the next day. That’s when they saw she had a very bad cut on her neck.
The following day, the vet examined the dog and said she was the nicest dog he’d ever seen. He advised Emma to keep the dog for a few weeks to make sure she healed up properly. So Emma named her Kaia and began to think about who could adopt her because she travels too much to care for a dog. But she had an idea.
Emma had been thinking of a dog for her dad, who lives up in Alaska all by himself and who she thought needed a companion. Emma’s dad took a bit of convincing but eventually relented, so Emma flew home with Kaia. That turned out to be a wonderful decision, as dad and Kaia are getting along famously!
