Breathtaking, striking, remarkable, astonishing – there are no words to express how exquisitely beautiful and brilliant what this photographer did.
Terje Sørgjerd spent eight days on Spain’s highest mountain, El Teide (3718m) and captured these incredible views. El Teide is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world’s best observatories. Terje captured these images between the 4th and 11th of April in 2011, and during that entire period, Terje only managed to sleep for less than 10 hours.
Terje’s goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy. He also wanted to photograph El Teide, which Terje refers to as, “one of the most amazing mountains I know.”
Wait until you watch Terje’s time-lapse video. It is simply breathtaking.
A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert and Terje managed to capture the sandstorm on camera. The storm was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like “golden clouds”, with The Milky Way shining through the clouds. This scene is shown at the 00:32 mark in the video.
