Riding a bicycle can be a convenient, cost-saving and environmentally-friendly way to get around, but commuting alongside motor vehicles always presents the potential for accidents. In the UK alone, over 19,000 cyclists are involved in accidents every year. Although cyclists are often advised to wear reflective clothing, sometimes it’s not enough to be seen by drivers.
Certainly, visibility is a key factor in reducing the risks of collisions with vehicles. That’s where this invention from Volvo Cars could significantly improve safety for bicyclists. They’ve created Life Paint, a unique reflective safety spray that’s invisible in daylight, but at night it illuminates brightly under car headlights!
This is a clever new invention that could potentially save lives! Not only can it be sprayed on bicycles, it can be sprayed on clothing, backpacks, dog leashes, etc. Life Paint lasts about a week once it’s applied and can be washed off with soap and water. The company says that if the paint catches on in Britain, they’ll release it internationally.
I can imagine the product will not only be appealing to bicyclists but also to construction workers, pedestrians, runners and dog walkers too!
