Once ants invade your home, they can be hard to get rid of. Sometimes professional exterminators are necessary, but before going out and spending hundreds of dollars, why not try a few of these tricks from Household Hacker to see if you can keep them at bay and drive them away.
Household Hacker share 7 tips for getting rid of ants. One of my favorite tips is how to keep them off your picnic table. Simply place pie tins under each leg of the table and then fill them with water. It creates a moat or barrier that the ants can’t cross.
Note, this tip should only be used temporarily so as not to rot or rust the legs of your table, and to prevent creating an unwanted breeding ground for mosquitos.
As ants are excellent climbers, this may not always work, so if this doesn’t do the trick here’s a few other tips to try. You can try wrapping the legs in aluminum foil or rub Vicks VapoRub on the bottom 3 or 4 inches of the legs. The ants won’t attempt to climb up either.
Also included in the video are tips on tracing ants back to their nest, making an effective ant-killer, and safely ridding them from your home and garden.
