Wild Duck Loves Living With His Doggie Best Friends

When a duck named Finn got stuck under a dock as a baby Ashley and her husband rescued him. They reached out to veterinarians and wildlife rehabilitators for advice on how to help him survive. The experts first suggested that they try to reunite him with his mother, but Finn’s mother never came back. Then they tried to introduce Finn to another mother duck with ducklings, the family wanted nothing to do with him. At that point, Ashley knew Finn was with them to stay.

Ashley says Finn is pretty goofy. He loves music, and he’ll bark along with the dog. He’s also a real survivor because, as Ashley points out, it’s rare for a duck to survive alone. “So the fact he survived is pretty amazing,” she says.

Finn is, in many ways, a wild duck and, in other ways, a family pet. Finn knows his name, loves hanging out with his doggie pals, and goes into his crate at night, enjoying his bed. But when he’s outside he does duck things. He will swim and fly, but he always comes back.
