Jennifer McKee, a dog rescuer from San Antonio, has foster-failed with all three of her dogs, adopting them permanently. So when she saw a Facebook post about a mama dog and her puppies abandoned in a park, she immediately decided to step in to help save them.
When Jennifer arrived, she found the dogs huddled together on a red blanket, trying to stay warm.
“The San Antonio dog dumping situation is out of control,” she shared on TikTok. “Found this mama and two puppies today dumped off a busy road park like trash. The dumper left a blanket which was soaked from rain. All three are safe and home with me.”
@pupcupcrew The San Antonio dog dumping situation is out if control. Found this mama and two puppies today dumped off of a busy road park like trash. Dumper left a blanket which was soaked from the rain. All three are safe and home with me. San Antonio needs a major education on how to be a responsible pet owner. Dumping animals is a felony in Texas. #abandoned #sanantonio #pitbull #puppiesoftiktok #dogstory #animaladvocate #help ♬ original sound – pupcupcrew
Jennifer approached the family slowly and quietly not wanting to startle them or scare them off. When she got close she noticed a mama and two puppies. That was a cause for concern because the original post mentioned four puppies, but she only found two — likely because someone else had already taken the others. Jennifer could only hope that the missing ups are safe and being looked after. She had brought along food and water and using leftover turkey, Jennifer coaxed the hungry mama, who eagerly wolfed it down. She then gave water to all three before driving them home.
@pupcupcrew Rescue pups in the car going home last night. So thirsty! The mama proceeded to throw up in my car twice shortly after this video was made. She hasnt vomited since❤️. #rescue #pitbullsoftiktok #puppiesoftiktok #dogsoftiktok #puppies #spayandneuter #sanantonio #dogstory ♬ original sound – pupcupcrew
Initially, Jennifer wondered if she’d taken on too much. But over the next few days, the dogs began to decompress. “It’s hard to believe we are on day four together,” she wrote in an update. “The pups are still decompressing. Everyone is so happy and full.”
Jennifer noted that usually the family wake up when she comes into the room, but she found them all sound asleep. She wrote, “They are sleeping so much! I know puppies are growing and mama is healing so sleep helps.”

After a vet check-up, Jennifer confirmed the dogs were healthy (no parvo or heartworm) and gaining weight quickly. Thanks to her social media followers, she received donations for their care and even got names for them: the mama is now Nova, and her puppies are Peaches and Tank.
@pupcupcrew Just another beautiful day with the pups! They love the backyard and patio. Mama likes to sit on the patio and watch her pride. Its warm in San Antonio! 81 degrees today. #perfectday #bluesky #blueeyes #rescuedog #pittielove ♬ I'm Alive – Céline Dion
Nova quickly warmed up to her new environment, enjoying attention, outdoor time, and activities like shopping trips and meeting Santa. “Mama sat so nice with Santa, and we have beautiful photos to show their future forever families,” Jennifer shared.
