Karra Bridgewater wasn’t expecting to rescue a puppy when she was out driving in her rural neighborhood recently. But when she spotted a furry ball on the side of the road she pulled over to find a puppy huddling behind a pole. The puppy was all alone, his mother nowhere to be seen, so Bridgewater grabbed hold of him and brought him home.
“So I guess we got a puppy…” she wrote on the TikTok video she shared. In the video, she reveals the tiny pup was infested with fleas so the first thing she did when she got home was to give him a bath.

She washed the puppy with Dawn dish soap and had to wash him six, seven times to get rid of them all. “I did use dawn dish soap, I had to apply it multiple times the fleas were sooo bad,” she revealed. It took an hour and by the end of the bath both of them were exhausted. But once the pup was towel dried, he cuddled with her young son and quickly fell asleep.
The family headed out to get some much needed supplies for their young furry visitor (food, toys) but a short time later Bridgewater was in for another surprise. She had taken the puppy outside to do potty and when she went to check on him she was shocked to see another puppy on her porch.
“I can’t believe it,” Bridgewater said in a TikTok video upon spotting the second pup. “Where did you come from?” She was in total disbelief. The female puppy appears to be the rescue pup’s sister and she too was also covered in fleas. Bridgewater wrote, “Can’t make this sh*t up. I think someone dumped [her].”

The reason Bridgewater thinks someone dumped the second puppy on her doorstep is because her home is pretty far away from where she found the first puppy. But you never know if the puppy somehow sniffed out her brother. Bridgewater didn’t know what to make of it either but she did go out and check the area to see if she could find the puppies’ mother or possibly more siblings.
She wrote on her TikTok channel, “I’ve drove around multiple times looking for more or even a mama dog but I haven’t seen anything. & we live in a heavy wooded area so it makes it tough.”
Bridgewater set to work washing the second puppy to get rid of her fleas and now had two adorable, energetic puppies to look after.

She scheduled a vet visit for the two pups as soon as she could and recounts how that went in another video:

The two puppies both tested positive for worms and are currently being treated. They also got their first round of shots and preventatives, Bridgewater said.
Bridgewater added, it may “not financially responsible to keep the two puppies right now” but she and her family are fostering the puppies for the time being. One thing is for sure, these two puppies lucked out by running into Bridgewater and her family!
