At first, I thought it was just an old log, but it is actually an incredible sculpture carved into the tree and is considered the longest in the world!
China has a long tradition of wooden sculptures and this creation by artist Zheng Chunhui is one of the most impressive!
He spent four years carving the log into a detailed replica of a famous traditional Chinese painting called “Along the River during the Qingming Festival”.
The wooden sculpture spans the trunk of the 12 foot tree and is over 39 feet long. The tree was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s longest wood carving.
It has more than 550 individually carved people among an amazingly detailed scene of boats, buildings and scenery and is on display in Fuzhou, Fujian Province.
Watch the video below to see the carving in more detail and be sure to share this amazing artwork with your friends and family!
